Tang Ling Nah The World-Renowned Singapore Artist
Tang Ling Nah, a Singaporean artist who was born in 1971, focuses on the transient areas that make up our contemporary cities. She investigates the connection between architecture and life in her charcoal drawings. She exhibits her work in art galleries as well as takes part in collective shows.
Tang Ling Nah graduated from RMIT University with a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) degree. Tang has organized several art shows in Singapore in addition to her own work.
These include the Potluck exhibition and the 10:10 artists exchange project. Numerous honors have been given to Tang, including the Philip Morris Singapore-ASEAN Art Awards and the National Arts Council Young Artist Award (Art) (2004).
She also represented Singapore at the 11th International Architecture Biennale in Venice and the 2nd Singapore Biennale. Both public and private collections contain her artwork.
Drawing on strategies like trompe l'oeil, Tang Ling Nah has created a particular aesthetic expression and a distinctive architectural art style.
What is trompe-l'oeil?

Tang Ling Nah's Style
Tang Ling Nah, a Singapore-based artist, explores the idea of drawing as both a verb and an action in Drawing Parallel, a movement-based installation, and performance.
Famous Types Of Art Movements And Styles
The performer "draws" a line on the paper, a surface she has already cleaned, or both through the physical motion of cleaning and scratching surfaces. Tang makes an abstract depiction of her experience by using this technique on both a surface and a space.
Tang Ling Nah's Activated C
Drawings made with charcoal, a fairly inert medium, were featured in Tang Ling Nah's first solo exhibition, activated C. Tang explores the complicated interactions between people and their environment by using charcoal to highlight the urban setting in her art.
Tang Ling Nah’s Art Exhibition
The Tang Ling art exhibit explores the transitional areas of the city using the concept of space as a conceptual anchor. Four created chambers in this show deal with the idea of windows opening into duality. Visitors to the show came across charcoal markings and artificial illumination that define these spaces.
The Importance Of Art | What Is Art?
The paintings on display in this show were motivated by her past works including Milling with Care (2015) at The Mill, Drawing Parallel (2014) at Aliwal Arts Centre, and EMERGE Interdisciplinary Collaborative Residency (2014) at Earthdance, where she investigated movement-based performance motivated by Eadweard Muybridge's works.
Her pieces contain multiple layers of meaning. Intended to connect the inner and outward worlds. It blurs the distinction between reality and illusion in this way.
All of this is a result of the artist's extraordinary abilities and devotion to her work. Tang Ling Nah has developed a distinctive aesthetic art style and an architectural sensibility through her diverse practice.
Performances, installations, and videos are also included in her body of work. She examines ephemeral places and the lack of human closeness in city life in her early works. Other places, like Sydney and Bangkok, have collections of her works as well.
